Emma Chamberlain is embracing being single.
The YouTube star and fashion It-girl, 24, revealed on the latest episode of her podcast “Anything Goes” that she’s officially single again. Though she didn’t mention her ex by name, Emma had been quietly linked to musician Peter McPoland throughout 2024 after the pair were spotted getting cozy at the Paris Olympics and later wore coordinating Halloween costumes, fueling romance rumors.
During the Thursday, November 13, episode titled “Embracing being single,” Emma opened up about the emotional shift she’s navigating behind the scenes. “I’m going through a breakup right now,” she shared, explaining that the relationship was “serious” and lasted two years. “We really deeply loved each other.”
Despite the heartache, Emma emphasized that the split wasn’t explosive. Instead, she and her ex “decided to remain friends,” calling the separation thoughtful and mutual. But even with the amicable ending, the transition back into single life feels unfamiliar for her.
“I’ve had quite a few boyfriends, but I’ve had very short breaks in between, meaning I haven’t really been single,” she reflected. “So it’s a little bit daunting to be in this place now where I’m single again.” This time, she’s determined not to rush her healing. “I know I should be single for a little bit longer than two or three months. I think this time I need to be single for like a year.”
Emma explained that historically, she would immediately start scanning for her “next boyfriend” after a breakup — something she now realizes was a pattern of avoidance. “At the time, I didn’t really notice what I was doing. I wasn’t really self-reflecting,” she said. “But now that I’m a little bit older, I understand why I used to do that.”
Before Peter, Emma was in a long-term relationship with singer-songwriter Role Model (Tucker Pillsbury). They dated for three and a half years before splitting in October 2023, and the relationship heavily shaped Tucker’s 2024 album Kansas Anymore. “I have no regrets, and it’s a beautiful time in my life that I’m proud of,” he told Nylon.
Tucker later shared on The Zach Sang Show that he struggled living full-time in Los Angeles and spent long stretches back home in Maine, “creating space” between him and Emma. What he described as homesickness — combined with a “quarter-life crisis” — eventually led the pair to drift apart.
