The 33-year-old rapper has been serving time for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot back in 2020, after being sentenced to ten years in 2023.

The rapper claimed there was insufficient proof that he was the shooter and he received an unfair trial. The court’s ruling said there was no reason to overturn the verdict.

Peterson contends the trial court committed a number of errors,” the appeals court shared, via Billboard. “We find no prejudicial error and, accordingly, affirm Peterson’s conviction.”

Among his arguments in the appeal, Tory said it was unfair for jurors to hear an earlier interview with Megan‘s friend/assistant Kelsey Harris where she blamed him for the shooting, and he also said prosecutors improperly cited an Instagram post where he seemingly said that Kelsey had not shot Megan.

In addition, he also claimed prosecutors “introduced racial bias into the proceedings” when referencing a tattoo of a gun on his chest.

“It was defense counsel who asked — both on direct and on redirect — if [a witness] had ever seen Peterson with a gun,” the appeals court said. “Neither of the prosecutors even mentioned Peterson’s tattoos — much less the tattoo of a firearm — in their closing arguments.”

Earlier this year, Tory was stabbed 14 times while in prison, and it was caught on camera.
