Country singer Thomas Rhett Atkins, who goes by Thomas Rhett professionally, is sharing a very special video with his fans.
On November 5, Rhett posted a video of how his wife Lauren Akins telling him and their four children that she is pregnant with their fifth child.
She gathered the family in the kitchen to make the announcement to all of them together.
“Remember the present that we got for daddy?” she asked the kids. “It did not come in, but something else did!” she said, pulling out a positive pregnancy test.
“You’re pregnant?! You’re pregnant?!” their oldest daughter exclaimed in disbelief in the video.
Rhett started laughing, saying, “Are you serious? I told you. I told you!”
The couple has been married since October 12, 2012 and currently have four daughters together, Willa Gray, 10, Ada James, 8, Lennon Love, 5, and Lillie Carolina, 3.
After struggling to conceive early on in their marriage, Rhett and Atkins decided to adopt Willa Gray from Uganda in 2017.
However, much to their shock, Atkins found out she was pregnant with Ada James in the middle of the adoption process.
This led to the couple bringing home 18-month-old Willa Gray when Atkins was less than three months away from giving birth to Ada James.
Then, the couple decided to grow their family even further, welcoming Lennon Love in 2020 and Lillie Carolina in 2021.
While Rhett is proud of his many career accomplishments–from Grammy nominations to Billboard Hot Country hits–his family is his true pride and joy.
“There’s no stage moment, no number one hit that I can remember that’s ever felt better than when I walk through the door after being on the road,” he shared in a 2022 interview with She Knows.
In the same interview, he shared that he doesn’t internalize pressures from others to have a son.
“I get people asking, ‘When are you gonna try for that boy?’ I feel like I was put on this earth to be a musician, but also to be a girl dad. And I have completely embraced it, and I love it more than anything in the world. Those girls have my heart,” Rhett said.
Atkins clarified in the Instagram reveal video that she did not know the gender of the baby yet, so only time will tell whether another girl or the very first boy will be added to their growing family.
