Carrie Ann Inaba is sharing her feelings about Danielle Fishel’s recent elimination from Dancing With the Stars.
“Danielle & Pasha,” the judge, 57, captioned a photo of her, Fishel, 44, and pro Pasha Pashkov in the ballroom shared via her Instagram Story on Wednesday, November 5. “We are all going to miss you. So glad we had a moment to chat after the show.”
Fishel and Pashkov, 39, were ultimately sent home during the Tuesday, November 4, episode. The pair earned an individual score of 34 out of 40 for their contemporary to “Dream On” by Aerosmith. Fishel and Pashkov were part of “Team Chicago,” who earned a perfect score from judges Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, Derek Hough and guest judge Flavor Flav.
Following her exit, Fishel opened up about how much the experience meant to her.
“Tonight was my last night, it was my last dance. I was eliminated and I have such a wide range of emotions,” Fishel said in a clip from the Wednesday episode of her “Danielle With Stars” podcast shared via Instagram. My day-to-day life is going to so drastically change now. It couldn’t have gone any better. I am so lucky. I was so lucky that Pasha was my partner.”
Inaba took to the comments section of the video, sharing how “sad” she was over the Boy Meets World alum’s departure.
“You are such an incredible human. And I was very sad about last night. I’m so glad we had a moment to speak after the show at the pod,” Inaba replied. “You have shown so many people how to be professional and composed in any situation. You’ve graced us with your poise and passion. And you have also given so many people who watch our show an example of how to move through challenges. You are the true meaning of a Star.”
Inaba has received backlash for her scoring during season 34. Earlier in the season, the longtime judge was booed by the audience when giving feedback to Fishel and Pashkov during Dedication Night. (Inaba later apologized during the November 4 episode, saying she was sorry if Fishel was “hurt” by her words. The actress replied she was “not.”)
“I love a throwback, but I have to say this. Some of your dances are starting to feel like I’m watching the same dance over and over again,” Inaba said following the pair’s jive. “Try to give a little bit more variety as far as dynamics. This is also on you, Pasha.”
After the episode, Fishel told Us Weekly exclusively that she wasn’t upset about Inaba’s remarks.
“I absolutely understand what Carrie Ann was saying, and it’s the reason I did not take any offense to it,” she told Us in October. “I appreciate it.”
Fishel has also been candid about her confusion over how scoring works on DWTS.
“I am gonna say the scoring on this show does confuse me. It is a little confusing,” Fishel said on the Wednesday episode of the “Pod Meets Twirl’d” podcast, which is hosted by her Boy Meets World costars Rider Strong and Will Friedle. “I do think that maybe they could benefit from halves. Like an 8.5 and an 8 and then 9 or a 9.5.”
Fishel added that while the judges are “entitled to do whatever they want” it can be complicated for viewers to follow.
Dancing With the Stars airs on ABC and Disney+ Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET, with new episodes streaming the next day on Hulu.
