Former news anchor Angelynn “Angie” Mock has been charged with murder after she allegedly stabbed and killed her elderly mother.
Police responded to a “reported cutting” at a home in Wichita, Kansas around 7:52 a.m. local time on October 31, according to a Sedgwick County Police Department (SCPD) media release shared on Facebook.
Once police arrived at the scene, Mock, 47, was found standing outside of the home. Authorities entered the residence and found Mock’s mother, Anita Avers, “unresponsive in her bed with multiple stab wounds.”
Avers was taken to a local hospital, where she died at the age of 80 soon after, per the release.

Mock also went to the hospital and was treated for undisclosed injuries before she was taken into custody at Sedgwick County Jail. According to Sedgwick County public records, she was charged with murder in the first degree. Mock is currently being held on a bond of $1 million.
It is not currently clear if Mock had a motive for the alleged crime. Additionally, information is not currently available regarding her initial court appearance.
SCPD added that an investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
Mock previously worked as a news anchor and reporter for Fox 2 in St. Louis, Missouri, per her LinkedIn profile. After working the broadcast journalism job from 2011 until 2015, she later transitioned into a job in sales. According to her LinkedIn, she is currently working for a data management software company.
She described herself as a “veteran Broadcast Journalist with 12 years experience in television broadcasting” in her Linkedin bio. However, she “transitioned into sales because of the many similarities the two positions encompass.”
