Don’t try to tell Parvati Shallow that she has anything less than two legit Survivor wins on her résumé.
Jeremy Collins, a Survivor winner himself, did just that when he insisted that Survivor Australia vs. the World counted as half a win.
“A couple of straight men trying to discredit a woman … get a new move boys,” Parvati 43, wrote via Instagram in the comments section of a post that shared the clip.
Jeremy, 47, dropped his take on the Wednesday, October 22, episode of the “On Fire” podcast when Survivor host Jeff Probst asked him whether he would classify Parvati as a two-time winner. Parvati won Survivor: Micronesia in 2008 before winning the Australian Survivor season Survivor: Australia vs. the World earlier this year.
Tony Vlachos and Sandra Diaz-Twine are the only two-time Survivor U.S. winners, while Parvati is the only player to ever win two different versions of Survivor.
“So, listen, I don’t think so,” Jeremy said. “In my Survivor world, I say she has one and a half wins. It’s a good win. Australia Survivor’s a good win, but it’s not the same as Survivor U.S.”
Jeremy is correct that Australian Survivor is different from Survivor U.S. The game Parvati played was only 16 days long and featured just 14 players. By comparison, current Survivor U.S. seasons are 26 days and include 18 castaways. (In the so-called “Old Era,” when Jeremy and Parvati both got their wins, the game was 39 days long, and some seasons had as many as 20 players.)
On the other hand, Survivor: Australia vs. the World was meant to pit the best Survivor players — regardless of country — against each other to determine the ultimate winner. Parvati outlasted U.S. legends Tony, 52, and Cirie Fields as well as the “Golden God” David Genat.
Parvati wasn’t alone in her criticism of Jeremy’s comments either. Other former players jumped into the comments to back her up.
“LOLLLL GIVE ME A BREAK,” wrote two-time Survivor contestant Eliza Orlins. “Then the winner of any 26 day season only has a 2/3 win, RIGHT??????”
“Eyes are all the way in the back of my head 🙄,” added three-time castaway Kelley Wentworth.
Even Australian Survivor host Jonathan LaPaglia jumped to Parvati’s defense.
“Don’t hate the player, hate the game….Actually don’t do that either….💁♂️,” he wrote.
Survivor airs on CBS Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. ET with new episodes of “On Fire” releasing immediately after.
