“I would say at first, me and Colin were definitely shocked that my parents brought it up to us on his birthday,” Baylen told People of the moment in the season two premiere of her show Baylen Out Loud. “Other than that, I feel like it’s great for people to see that you don’t have to go to premarital counseling to work on your relationship to make it better because you’re struggling. You can go there and work on it to make it better.”
“You never know what you’re going to get into. You never know what type of person you’re actually marrying until you have kids,” she adds.
Baylen says the counseling is “just kind of having those tough, difficult conversations, and I love it. I love premarital counseling.”
At first, the young couple didn’t think the counseling was right for them, but Baylen has shared that the sessions have become a way for them to have “a lot of conversations that people don’t want to have,” including her, who is “great at avoiding” conflict.
“We can do things that are better. We can learn more about each other, learn more about the struggles,” the TikTok star said. “You don’t need to be scared to go to therapy … It’s just kind of a way to get help that I think a lot of people should use.”
“You learn a lot about how to cope. You learn a lot how to grow,” she adds.
