Maggie Baugh has one big rule when it comes to dating a fellow musician amid rumors of her alleged romantic connection to Keith Urban.
“There’s always been a rule you can’t date the band members because what happens if we break up?” Baugh, now 25, said in a resurfaced clip from her 2017 interview with Piper’s Picks.
Baugh explained at the time that there’s no dipping her toes in the dating pool when it comes to her bandmates because she wouldn’t want to fracture any working relationships. The musician joked that she couldn’t lose her band’s drummer because of a failed romance. When asked by Piper Reese if she thought the drummer was “cute,” Baugh explained that she prioritizes platonic connections over romantic ones.
“I mean, they’re all cute, don’t get me wrong, but I mean that the drummer has been the longest in my band. Like, he’s basically my brother,” she said at the time. “My bass player is basically my brother. Everyone in my band, I treat [them] like my best friend.”
Eight years later, Baugh is making headlines after rumors about her and Keith Urban swirled following his public split from Nicole Kidman. Us Weekly confirmed in September that Kidman, 58, and Urban, 57, had separated after nearly 19 years of marriage. One day after the news broke, the actress filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the dissolution of their marriage.
Baugh is one of Urban’s guitarists on his High and Alive Tour. After news broke about Urban and Kidman’s breakup, footage from the country singer’s previous concerts popped up online, with fans noticing some eyebrow-raising lyric changes in his song “The Fighter.” The love song, which was released in 2016, is about Urban’s relationship with Kidman.

During one show in April, Urban seemingly pointed across the stage at Baugh during “The Fighter” as he sang, “I was born to love you.” He then changed the verse to shout out Baugh directly, “Maggie, I’ll be your fighter.”
Several months later, Urban sang another lyric directed at Baugh during a September show, days before news broke of Urban and Kidman’s divorce. In the original verse, Urban, 57, sings, “When they’re tryna get to you, baby, I’ll be the fighter.”
Urban sang instead, “When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie, I’ll be your guitar player.”
Baugh shared a clip of the moment via her Instagram and captioned it, “Did he just say that 👀.”
Urban and Baugh’s onstage demeanor led speculation about their connection. The pair have yet to address their dynamic publicly. Us has reached out to Urban and Baugh’s reps for comment.
Maggie’s father, Chuck Baugh, denied the rumors. Chuck shared a TikTok video claiming that his daughter may “allegedly [be] the person responsible for Keith’s divorce from Nicole Kidman” via his Facebook. He added to the post, “NO. Just No.”
Since his divorce, Urban has removed “The Fighter” from his setlist as he continues his tour. Maggie also took a break from the tour as Natalie Stovall filled in for her during Urban’s first concert since his split at the Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania, on Thursday, October 2.
