Taylor Swift is giving fans a peek inside her wedding planning process — and yes, Ed Sheeran will be there.
During an October 3 appearance on BBC Radio 1 Breakfast, the pop superstar, 35, opened up about her upcoming nuptials to NFL star Travis Kelce, revealing that the pair are planning a “destination wedding.” While she didn’t disclose the location, Swift had plenty of other details to share — including the guest list and the story behind her stunning engagement ring.
One of the first names to come up? Her longtime bestie Ed Sheeran. Swift confirmed that Sheeran, 34, will absolutely be performing at the wedding.
“I mean, it would be hard to keep him from it I think!” she joked. “That’s the thing — he’s like, ‘I’m always being asked to sing at weddings’ and you’re like, ‘Ed if there’s a stage you know that you’ll be on it!’”
Calling him the kind of friend who loves to “give people what they want,” Swift explained that music has always been at the heart of their friendship. “That’s the fun thing about our friendship — we both love performing and we love writing and we love singing. It’s actually not that hard to talk either of us into performing at anything!”
Swift also surprised BBC host Greg James by revealing that he’d made the guest list. “You and I have known each other for so long,” James said, joking that their friendship even predates her relationship with Kelce. “Longer than Travis has known you. I feel like I need to just check — the vibes are strong from him, I think he’s a great guy, I just need to play catch with him.”
Swift laughed and promised that Kelce, 35, would absolutely be up for it. “All my guy friends are like, ‘I just want Travis to pick me up and throw me over a roof or in the pool,’” she said, describing him as “a really easygoing guy.”
James teased that Kelce might try a “wrestling move” when they meet, and Swift agreed. “The way he’s going to do that as soon as he sees you at our wedding,” she said. “That’s gonna happen.”
The Grammy winner also gave fans a closer look at her dazzling engagement ring, revealing that Travis designed it himself with jeweler Kendrik Lubek — someone she’d shown him a video of 18 months earlier.
“He designed it with this amazing jeweller, Kendrik Lubek is her name, she does all her gold engraving by hand and I’d shown him a video of… I just thought her stuff was so cool,” she recalled. “When I saw the ring I was like [gasps] I know who made that! And also he listened to me! It was like, you really know me — I didn’t know what I’d want, but he did somehow and that’s kind of a flex.”
Despite her reputation as a detail-oriented superstar, Swift admitted she hadn’t spent her life dreaming about wedding plans — until she met Kelce. “Actually you’d think I’d be the type of person who would have obsessed over the idea of a wedding my whole life, but I actually never thought about what I would do, what I would want, until I met the person,” she said.
As for her bachelorette party? That’s still TBD. “I have such a good girl gang that it would be one hell of a hen do when they all get together to celebrate,” she said, but noted that her friends are “scattered across the world,” so plans aren’t locked in just yet.
