Was Season 2 Confirmed?
Netflix has officially renewed Hunting Wives for season two, with the original cast set to reprise their roles, Variety reported on September 12. In a statement, Netflix confirmed the second season “will release exclusively as a Netflix branded series in nearly all countries Netflix is available, with the original cast set to reprise their roles.”
And while the fate of Hunting Wives had been up in the air for several months, Brittany Snow and Malin Åkerman had already hinted at more episodes earlier this month.
“Listen, we’ll put it this way,” Malin exclusively told E! News at the Video Music Awards on Sept. 7. “We’ve heard a lot of positive feedback from the powers that be.”
Brittany, for her part, emphasized how exciting it was for the cast — which also included Chrissy Metz and Dermot Mulroney — when the Netflix audience responded to the May Cobb novel adaptation after it hit the streamer in July.
“You never really know when things are going to hit or not,” the Pitch Perfect alum explained. “And with something like this, it was so polarizing because people either love it or hate it.”
For the 27 Dresses alum, the success of the series thus far has been a dream come true.
“All of a sudden, when it kind of comes true, you go, ‘Wow, people are actually watching our show,’” she explained at the time. “It’s very exciting and very exhilarating.”
Where Did Season 1 Leave Off?
Warning: upcoming spoilers for S1. Season one ended with a dramatic cliffhanger. Sophie (Brittany Snow) discovered that it was Margo (Malin Åkerman) who killed Abby Jackson (Madison Wolfe), the season’s central mystery. But the tension didn’t stop there: Sophie ran over Margo’s brother Kyle (Michael Aaron Milligan) in a hit-and-run — and Margo knows.
When Does Season 2 Come Out?
Netflix has not yet announced an official release date for season two. Fans can expect the series to return in its eight-episode format, continuing Sophie’s journey as she navigates Mapleton’s conservative social circles while dealing with Margo’s manipulations.
