Saoirse Ronan and Jack Lowden are officially parents!
The 31-year-old Oscar-nominated actress and her 35-year-old actor husband were spotted out and about in London this week, pushing a baby stroller, per The Sun.
The couple, who secretly tied the knot in Edinburgh last year, were seen together in late August when Ronan was still pregnant, so the arrival of their first child likely happened in the past few weeks. Fans first learned of Ronan’s pregnancy in May, when she was spotted with what appeared to be a baby bump during a London walk. At the time, she wore a black bodysuit with a puffer jacket and baseball cap, while Lowden sported a casual Adidas hoodie and sweatpants. The Irish Independent also confirmed the pregnancy via a source.
Ronan and Lowden’s romance began in 2018 while filming Mary Queen of Scots, where Ronan starred as Mary and Lowden played Lord Darnley. On set, the chemistry between the two was undeniable. “It was remarkable working with Saoirse,” Lowden said during an AOL panel promoting the film. “The woman is a force of nature on and off-screen, and utterly fearless and a brilliant leader as well. For being 24 years old, it’s just constantly amazing to me, not just her work, but how she is on a set is amazing.”
Despite their high-profile careers, the couple has always kept their relationship private. In July 2024, they quietly tied the knot in Scotland. Reflecting on married life in November 2024 on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Ronan joked about one small, unfulfilled wish: “I’ve been desperate for myself and my husband, Jack, to do a cheesy karaoke duet. It’s ‘Shallow’ from A Star Is Born. I want him to be my Bradley [Cooper], and I’ll be his [Lady] Gaga. And he won’t do it. He hasn’t committed. And I’m sort of like, well, what’s marriage for? You know what I mean? What are we doing here?”
In October 2024, Ronan opened up about her personal life and how it’s evolved alongside her career. “My life has become so much more than just work,” she said. “For a long time, that’s all I did; that’s how I met people and made sense of the world.” She continued, “I feel like I’m part of a group, which I never thought I would have. I used to think, ‘You’ll never have friends. You’ll never have a partner.’ I was so in my own world, in a lot of ways. So now, to feel like I’ve got a very rich personal and social life — it’s so precious to me.”
