There’s a Superman sequel in the works, and James Gunn just confirmed the first plot details about what to expect for the iconic superhero.
The DC co-head made an appearance on The Howard Stern Show, where he hinted at what to expect from Man of Tomorrow, expected in theaters in July 2027, with David Corenswet returning to play the part of Superman.
The movie, which he said would start filming sometime around April of next year, is also set to see the return of Nicholas Hoult as villain Lex Luthor, and now we know more about why.
“It’s a story about Lex Luthor and Superman having to work together to a certain degree against a much, much bigger threat,” he teased during the appearance. (Listen to it here.)
With the announcement of the sequel earlier this month, fans were already speculating that the villain and the superhero would be teaming up. See the photo they used to announce the project.
