Love is in the air — and Travis Kelce can’t stop smiling about it.
The Kansas City Chiefs star, 35, is opening up for the first time about his romantic proposal to Taylor Swift, just one week after the couple shocked the world with their engagement announcement.
On the September 3 episode of his “New Heights” podcast with brother Jason Kelce, Travis got candid about the life-changing moment. Jason, 37, wasted no time bringing up the big news, telling listeners, “Travis, we gotta talk about it,” to which Travis playfully fired back, “I don’t think we do.”
But of course, they did. Jason reminded fans of the couple’s viral Instagram announcement, saying, “In case you missed the Instagram post heard ‘round the world, Travis and Taylor are engaged! Yay!”
Grinning, Travis thanked his brother — and everyone who’s been celebrating with them. “That’s right, that’s right. And I appreciate everybody that reached out and sent something and all the posts and all the excitement that’s been going on. It’s been really fun telling everybody who I’m going to be spending the rest of my life with.”
When Jason pressed him on how it feels to finally call Taylor his fiancée, Travis lit up. “Exciting, it’s been awesome,” he admitted. He even revealed that he introduced Taylor as his fiancée for the first time at the Cincinnati Bearcats game last week. “It was my first time introducing Taylor as my fiancée to a few of my teammates. So yeah, it was pretty cool.”
Jason teased his younger brother, asking if he ever gets butterflies using the new title. “Don’t you get giddy saying it?” he asked.
Travis didn’t hold back. “Yeah, I do. I still get giddy, exciting times,” he confessed.
The tight end also offered some heartfelt advice to anyone thinking about popping the question. “Man, you’ve gotta know your gal. You’ve gotta know your gal or your significant other. You can’t let how somebody else does it make you feel like you need to do it that way… I would just say know your partner, know who you’re doing it for and do it for the right reasons.”
Taylor and Travis first shared their happy news on August 26, captioning their joint post, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨.” In the photos, Travis is seen on one knee, surrounded by flowers, presenting Taylor with a dazzling custom ring he designed with Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry.
