Much like the open letter released during the Cannes Festival, another letter has been released during the Venice Film Festival.
– The letter is in Italian, as are most of the signatures.
– Members of film industries outside of Italy who signed the letter include Audrey Diwan, fellow French director Céline Sciamma, Iranian-French filmmaker Sepideh Farsi, French-Swiss director-actor Laetitia Dosch, British filmmaker Ken Loach, French actor Swann Arlaud, Bulgarian director Kostantin Bojanov, British actor Charles Dance, and Palestinian brothers Arab and Tarzan Nasser.
– In other Gaza news, a Hind Rajab dramatization is in the works. Brad Pitt (boooo), Joaquin Phoenix, and Rooney Mara, have signed on as producers. Also joining the film as executive producers are The Zone of Interest director Jonathan Glazer, and Roma filmmaker Alfonso Cuaron (both consistent legends). Several high-profile companies, including Britain’s Film4 and Saudi Arabian MBC Studio, have also backed The Voice of Hind Rajab.
– Noted piece of shit Alexander Payne, also at Venice, gave a non-answer when he asked about Gaza: “Quite frankly, I feel a little bit unprepared for that question,” Payne explained. “I’m here to judge and talk about cinema. My political views, I’m sure, are in agreement with many of yours. But as far as my relationship with the festival and what the industry does, I have to think about that for a while to give you a measured response.”
