    ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Scores Netflix’s First Theatrical Win at the Box Office!

    Netflix has a new kind of hit on its hands!

    The streamer’s animated smash KPop Demon Hunters just pulled in a surprising $18 million to $20 million with a special two-day sing-along event in theaters across North America, according to rival studios and exhibition sources, per THR.

    Since Netflix doesn’t officially report grosses, Weapons will still be listed as the weekend’s No. 1 movie with $15.6 million. But either way, it marks Netflix’s first big theatrical moment.

    The film has already become a cultural phenomenon since its June debut on the platform, with the soundtrack landing on the Billboard 200 and lead single “Golden” climbing the charts.

    The animated feature follows fictional girl group Huntrix — voiced by Arden Cho, May Hong and Ji-young Yoo — who secretly moonlight as demon hunters while battling a rival demon boy band.

    Directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, the movie was produced by Sony Pictures Animation before landing at Netflix.
