    Tristan Rogers Dead – Robert Scorpio on ‘General Hospital’ Passes Away at Age 79 Weeks After Announcing Cancer Diagnosis

    Tristan Rogers has sadly passed away.

    The Australian actor, best known for playing Robert Scorpio on General Hospital, died on Friday (August 15) at the age of 79. His passing comes less than a month after he revealed that he was battling lung cancer.

    Tristan‘s longtime manager Meryl Soodak confirmed his passing in a statement to ABC 7 Eyewitness News, sharing that his role on General Hospital “meant everything to him.”

    Keep reading to find out more…“He loved being Scorpio and he created that role from nothing,” his manager continued. “He was supposed to work a day and he ended up making it into something huge. He was just a genuinely loyal, kind human being and he loved his family.”

    Shortly after news of Tristan‘s passing was announced, General Hospital Executive Producer Frank Valentini shared a statement remembering the late actor.

    “The entire General Hospital family is heartbroken to hear of Tristan Rogers’ passing. Tristan has captivated our fans for 45 years and Port Charles will not be the same without him (or Robert Scorpio),” Frank shared with People.

    “I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to his family and friends during this difficult time,” he continued. “Tristan was a one-of-a-kind talent and will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.”

    Tristan first joined General Hospital back in 1980 and has appeared on and off the show for over four decades. He exited the soap opera last year, but made a brief return earlier this summer.

    He is survived by his wife Teresa Parkerson, two children, and a grandchild.
