“There’s something about positivity and energy, and his is contagious. It just is. And they’re such a great family. So I’m just excited to watch his journey. He is going to be an incredible personality on our show,” Jenna told E! News when asked about Robert competing on the upcoming season of DWTS.
Robert was previously in the DWTS studio when he watched his older sister, Bindi Irwin, competing on season 21. According to Jenna, meeting Robert on set then makes her even more excited to watch him compete.
“We’ve been such big fans of Robert Irwin since he was little, coming on set to watch Bindi perform,” Jenna said.
Valentin said that although Robert is already popular, it’s important to watch how the season plays out before anyone picks a favorite competitor to win the mirrorball trophy.
“I think it’s obvious when there’s a frontrunner pre-season, but there’s still so many elements. I hate to mention it—injury, but also just the chemistry, the vibe, the growth, the partnership,” Valentin told the outlet. “There’s so many things, so many variables that have to blossom.”
