Viewers will likely have to wait all summer to find out if Belly marries Jeremiah — unless The Summer I Turned Pretty just hinted at the outcome ahead of the season 3 finale.
During the Wednesday, July 30, episode of the hit Prime Video series, Belly (Lola Tung) went wedding dress shopping with Taylor (Rain Spencer) and Taylor’s mom (Kristen Connolly) ahead of her upcoming nuptials with Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) — and the episode showed Belly in her “final” pick.
Hear Us out — could the dress shopping scene be a crazy sign that she doesn’t marry Jeremiah? Some fans think so, hypothesizing that this isn’t Belly’s actual wedding dress since her mom, Laurel (Jackie Chung), was not there to help pick it out.
“Belly my princess don’t worry your mum will be there for your actual wedding dress shopping,” wrote a fan via X, while another added, “Belly babe it doesn’t suck but that’s not your wedding dress.”
There was also a debate on whether the option Belly chose on Wednesday’s episode is the one featured in promotional stills and the season 3 trailer. While some viewers were sure it was the same, others thought it was very different.
Another point of contention was whether showing Us Belly in her dress was meant to hint at something bigger down the line.

“Showing the wedding dress while shopping … yeah his ass is getting left at the altar,” read an X post about the episode. “Before anyone comes for me for insulting belly’s style like with the ring, I mean this in a meta tv/movie way. showing the wedding dress on screen is like the superstition about the groom seeing it before the wedding. you’re doomed, essentially.”
Based on Jenny Han’s YA book series, The Summer I Turned Pretty follows the love triangle between Belly, Jeremiah and Conrad (Chris Briney) that goes back and forth leading up to the show’s third and final season.
Belly originally made her final choice (spoiler alert — Conrad) in Han’s 2011 novel We’ll Always Have Summer. In the show, however, Han, 44, hinted things could change.
“There are surprises,” Han teased to Entertainment Weekly in May. “And there are things that aren’t exactly like the books.”
In the group interview, Tung, 22, Briney, 27, and Casalegno, 25, remained tight-lipped on who Belly would choose. Casalegno claimed die-hard fans “don’t really know” what’s coming, while Tung said viewers “have no clue” about onscreen shakeups.
Han maintained that there would be a “satisfying” ending for everyone.
“A successful love triangle is one where, no matter what happens, people are going to be devastated and heartbroken,” Han hinted. “Because if the answer feels really clear and easy, then there’s no real conflict. No matter what you do, someone’s going to be hurt by it.”
As Prime Video prepares for The Summer I Turned Pretty’s final chapter, the streaming service released a statement providing “community guidelines” for fans to follow ahead of possible backlash.
“Cousins is our safe place. Everything good, everything magical. Let’s keep the conversation kind this summer,” read the July post. “We have a ZERO tolerance policy for bullying and hate speech. If you engage in any of the following, you will be banned.”
The statement asked that fans not engage in “hate speech or bullying, targeting our cast or crew and harassing or doxxing members of the community.”
The Summer I Turned Pretty airs on Prime Video Wednesdays.
