We have an update on the passing of Hulk Hogan.
As you likely know at this point, the legendary wrestler died on July 24 from what has since been reported as cardiac arrest.
This may very well have been Hogan’s cause of death.
According to podcast host and WWE journalist Dave Meltzer, however, the 71-year old was in extremely bad shape prior to paramedics being called for a heart-related incident on the date cited above.

Due to complications from a neck surgery in May, Hogan was intubated and battled renal failure, fluid overload and severe COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), Dave Meltzer claimed late last week.
“What happened with Hulk was they took him out of the hospital and made a hospital in his house as there wasn’t much left they could do,” Meltzer reported in his Wrestling Observer Newsletter, maybe the most respected publication in this industry.
Similarly, an insider previously told Us Weekly that Hogan had been “in and out of the hospital” for years before his death.
The source described the frequent hospital visits as “the culmination of having over 30 surgeries over the course of his life.”

In the last several years of his life, Hogan was engulfed in controversy related to racial slurs he uttered on camera and also his decision to be a vocal Donald Trump supporter.
No one can deny the impact he had on pop culture for decades, though.
“I wasn’t ready for this…and my heart is in pieces,” Sky Daily, Hogan’s third wife, wrote on social media Friday, July 25.
“He had been dealing with some health issues, but I truly believed we would overcome them. I had so much faith in his strength. I thought we still had more time.”
These health issues are now coming to light.

“Wrestling like he did for so many years has done so much damage,” the Us Weekly source added. “His body was so beaten up. Although wrestling can be fake, it’s not physically fake. There were predetermined outcomes to the matches, but the physicality was very real. He was always in some sort of pain. He paid for his success.”
Hogan underwent “pretty serious” heart surgery in recent months, as well.
Continued Daily in her tribute:
“This loss is sudden and impossible to process. To the world, he was a legend… but to me, he was my Terry. The man I loved. My partner. My heart.”

Just a couple days ago, son Nick Hogan also mourned his father. This is what he wrote:
Thank you to everyone who has reached out to me and comforted me over the last few days. It truly means a lot. I’m sorry to everyone I have not responded to yet. This has been overwhelming and extremely difficult.
Hearing so many kind words and stories about my dad’s life, interactions and experiences with everyone has been incredible and comforting.
My dad was the most incredible person I’ve ever known and will always be my hero. He was the most kind, loving and amazing father anybody could ask for. I feel so blessed to have had the greatest dad in the world.
He was not only the best dad but also my mentor and my best friend. He always has been my best friend and I love him and miss him more than I could ever explain. I thanked him for everything he has ever done for me and told him how much I loved him and hugged him every chance I got.
