Two weeks after welcoming his first child into the world, San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey is sharing how life has been as a new dad so far.
McCaffrey’s wife, model and former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo, announced their daughter’s birth on Sunday, July 13. The couple named their baby girl Colette Annalise.
Despite welcoming a daughter into the world just weeks ago, McCaffrey had to report to training camp for the upcoming NFL season.
While Culpo has shared updates on her recovery and the first several days of Colette’s life on her personal Instagram stories, McCaffrey opened up about his daughter during a training camp press conference.
“I’m calling cloud nine ever since she was born,” McCaffrey told NFL reporters. “And, you know, it’s definitely been special for me, life changing, that’s for sure.”
The 29-year-old athlete then gave Culpo, 33, a shout out.
“And I’m just, I’m grateful for my wife. She does a great job, you know, letting me still keep football going, and working my butt off. And so it’s been great and such a blessing,” McCaffrey added.
According to InStyle, McCaffrey and Culpo were set up by a mutual friend in 2019, despite not wanting to date an athlete.
“He’s just the best, I feel like he is really everything that I could ever ask for,” Culpo told Entertainment Tonight in 2022. “So I never have to worry about anything. I think that was the reason why I didn’t want to date an athlete, no offense because there is a reputation there.” She continued, “He just comes from a great family. We have a lot in common in that respect. I feel like you can really tell who a person is by the people that raise them, and I just love his parents so much. They have a great relationship.”
Four years later, Culpo and McCaffrey got engaged with the football star getting down on one knee on April 2, 2023.
The following year, on June 29, 2024, they exchanged vows in a lavish wedding in Rhode Island.
By March 2025, Culpo announced their pregnancy on Instagram.
A week ago, Culpo shared her own update, posting a photo of herself and Collette in matching CHASA robes, a line created by Chanel Iman. “Mommy-daughter matching, diapers and all,” she captioned the photo.
