Elmo is the victim of a hacking.
The beloved Sesame Street character’s official X account was “compromised by an unknown hacker who posted disgusting messages, including antisemitic and racist posts” on Sunday (July 13), a spokesperson for the children’s show confirmed to Variety.
The posts have since been deleted.

Screenshots showed Elmo apparently calling for violence against Jews and calling for the release of files related to the Jeffrey Epstein case, per CNN.
“The account has since been secured,” the spokesperson went on to say.
The news comes at the same time as Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence chatbot Grok began spreading antisemitic posts on X, including glorifying Hitler and spreading conspiracies about the over-involvement of Jewish people in government, commerce and Hollywood.
“Grok was too compliant to user prompts. Too eager to please and be manipulated, essentially. That is being addressed,” owner Elon Musk said.
The chatbot later issued a statement.
