Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has been fired.
You may recognize the 51-year-old Formula 1 racing exec as the husband of Spice Girls’ Geri Halliwell. They married in 2015.
He was the longest tenured “team principal,” having had the role since 2005.

“Red Bull has released Christian Horner from his operational duties with effect from today and has appointed Laurent Mekies as CEO (chief executive) of Red Bull Racing. We would like to thank Christian Horner for his exceptional work over the last 20 years. With his tireless commitment, experience, expertise and innovative thinking, he has been instrumental in establishing Red Bull Racing as one of the most successful and attractive teams in Formula 1,” the statement said (via People).
“Thank you for everything, Christian, and you will forever remain an important part of our team history,” the statement added.
Last year, Horner was accused of inappropriate behavior with a member of the racing team, but he denied the allegations and he was eventually cleared in an investigation. Details about the allegation were never made public.
