Nicole Curtis is back on HGTV starting TONIGHT (June 24)!
The 48-year-old returns to host a new season of her show Rehab Addict after several years away from the show.
In the show, Nicole will “traverse the country to restore neglected historic homes needing a major rescue” in the four new episodes, including “one of her biggest challenges yet – fighting to save two derelict properties that are 1,500 miles apart. In Wyoming, Nicole will take on an 1890s house subjected to a bad flip, and, in her hometown of Detroit, she’ll purchase one of the dirtiest abandoned homes she’s ever seen.”
Nicole recently opened up about her time away in a new interview, sharing what happened in her life over the past few years.

“I had a setback in my life that just rocked me to the core, and it was one of those moments where I thought, how do I get through this one?” she told People while not disclosing what happened. This prompted her to make a big decision on her priorities.
“I prayed on it and it was just devastating for me. I had to make a decision right there and then like, ‘Okay, we’re going to let this affect us for a very long time, or we’re going to pick it up and go,’” she continued.
Nicole shared that on a whim in July 2022, she decided to travel to a Greek Island that night, but after boarding a flight to Paris, where she was going to spend a one-day layover shopping, she realized she forgot her wallet and only had less than $100 on her.
“I didn’t realize until I was up in the air paying for my WiFi that I left my wallet behind,” she said. “I didn’t have a credit card on me. I had $72 of change in dollar bills stashed in my bag. So I landed in Paris without a wallet. I thought, well, you know what? This is it. This is my test. I’m going to figure it out.”
A friend was able to wire her some money, and after that, she ran around the Eiffel Tower, went on a bike ride and did things she wanted to do. However, she continued to make spur of the moment decisions!
“I was like, ‘Okay, what am I doing?’ I went out that night, I bought a house online ’cause I was like, ‘I’m going to knock off all my wish lists tonight. We’re doing it.’”
That house? The Wyoming property featured on the upcoming new season of Rehab Addict!
Nicole‘s luck didn’t stop at forgetting her wallet – she also missed her connecting flight to Greece and had to make a decision, stay in Paris for a week or go back to the US. She ended up being able to get a flight to Salt Lake City, and drove the rest of the way to Wyoming to go check out the house she just bought.
“This house needed me and I needed this house,” she shared.
