This weekend had some repeats at the top of the box office charts, as Lilo & Stitch took the number one spot once again with $63 million, a 57% drop from its first weekend gross. It’s already made $280 million domestic, and $610 million worldwide.

In second place was Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, which also dropped 57% this weekend for a $27 million take.  The film has made $122.6 million domestic, and $353.8 million globally, but has a very long uphill battle to profitability with a reported budget of $400 million.

Newcomer Karate Kid: Legends picked up $21 million at the box office, which was below expectations. The film is set after the events of the recent Cobra Kai TV series, and was embraced much more wholeheartedly by fans than critics.

Fourth place went to Final Destination: Bloodlines with $10.8 million, while fifth place went to a new horror entry, Bring Her Back, which made $7 million.

On the expanding releases side, Friendship made $2.5 million in nearly 1300 theaters for a $12.3 million total. The latest Wes Anderson film, The Phoenician Scheme, pulled in $570k from six theaters, a $95k per theater average, which is the best of the year so far.
