On the air on Thursday (May 1), he confirmed to viewers, “After decades of getting up at 3:30 and driving into New York City in the dark, today is the last day I will host this show from the couch. I am not retiring. I am not leaving the show. I am still a host, but it is time for a change.”

Steve will now be based in Florida and do three days a week on the show.

He said this new schedule will “make it easier for me to report from Florida and other parts of America that don’t get a lot of network airtime. I’ll be going from the Carolinas to the Keys, from middle America to Mar-a-Lago. Call me the coast-to-coast host.” He will plan to join “the couch crew for commentary” in a remote fashion.

He has co-hosted the morning show on the news network since 1998. Brian Kilmeade, Ainsley Earhardt and Lawrence Jones will stay on as live co-hosts in New York City. By the way, out who Ainsley is engaged to.
