As of April 2025, Penn and Domino share a biological son, James, who was born in 2020. The Netflix star is also a stepdad to his wife’s teenage son, Cassius, whom she shares with ex Morgan O’Kane.
Penn Badgely and Domino Kirke Are Expecting Twins
The singer announced on February 28, 2025, that she and Penn had two babies on the way.
“Babies #3 and #4 coming this Summer! Talk about a PLOT TWIST! Spontaneous twins are beyond magical. We are stunned. We are in awe. Can’t think of anyone else I’d rather be on this ride with @pennbadgley,” she captioned the Instagram post announcing her pregnancy.
The doula added the term “monoditwins” in a tag, referring to how the babies are monochorionic, diamniotic (MCDA) twins, which are the product of a single fertilized egg according to the Columbia University Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. That means the twins are genetically identical.
The post included a photo of Penn kissing her baby bump while James joined in the celebration that he was going to be a big brother.
Domino also included a snapshot of a red cake Penn gave her that read, “Marry me over and over” in white frosting. It was in the shape of a heart and appeared to have been taken on Valentine’s Day several weeks prior.
Penn Badgely Is Ready to Be a Father to Twins
The Gossip Girl alum said he and Domino were “as ready as we could be” for welcoming twins during an appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast on April 22, 2025.
Penn added how thrilled he was that the twins are going to have each other to bond with growing up since he was an only child.
“Actually, to be honest, when we see the sonograms right now, seeing them together … as an only child, you know, it’s very touching to see them already so together,” he told host Alex Cooper.
“They’re so together. There’s one shot of them where they looked like they were just hanging out in a hot tub because they were both like up like this, or at least in the sonogram,” Penn added. “I don’t know which direction was north or south here, because you know, it’s its own world.”
Penn Badgely Has Been Open About His Dynamic as a Stepdad
“I have an interesting situation where I have a biological son and a stepson. And my stepson is — his father is very much in his life, so his father is his father, and I’m something else,” Penn explained during a March 2024 appearance on The New York Times’ “Modern Love” podcast.
“So, I have two different kinds of parental roles,” he said about how Cassius and James have a 12-year age gap.
Penn described how Cassius “doesn’t want to spend that much time with us anyway,” since he’s a teen. However, the actor shared a story about how they bonded over watching the Tom Cruise sci-fi thriller Edge of Tomorrow at home together.
“I just knew it was important. It was like the stars had aligned so that my wife and my youngest son were asleep, and I was just like, ‘This is a good time to do this! You’re not going to play video games now. We’re going to do this!’” he shared about their experience, adding that Cassius “loved” their movie night.

The couple tied the knot on February 27, 2017, in a Brooklyn, New York, courthouse ceremony after three years of dating. Penn and Domino held a formal ceremony for friends and family in upstate New York in June 2017.
