Landon Barker wasn’t on board the Rocky Barker train when stepmom Kourtney Kardashian and dad Travis Barker welcomed his little brother since their bundle of joy was so delicate as a newborn and he didn’t want to make a mistake. The “Friends With Your EX” artist had fans in a frenzy when he admitted he didn’t cradle 17-month-old Rocky when he was a baby, but now Landon said he has grown “comfortable” holding the toddler.
“I love baby Rocky,” Landon, 21, told E! News at Coachella on April 12. “He’s to the size now where I don’t feel like I’m going to — I don’t know, I had this weird fear that was like, ‘Oh my god. He’s so fragile.’ But he’s a bit bigger now, so I feel very comfortable holding him.”
Landon also told the outlet that baby Rocky “kind of knows [his] name already.”
“He calls me Don,” the “Over You” artist continued, gushing that Rocky has “pure energy.”
Rocky attended the annual star-studded music festival in Indio, California, with his family. On Monday, April 14, Travis, 49, shared a Coachella photo dump via Instagram and included a picture of Rocky playing his own drum piece and holding the sticks like a pro.
Landon found himself in hot water with fans in November 2023 when he revealed he hadn’t held Rocky weeks after his birth on November 1, 2023.
“I actually haven’t even held it,” Landon told SiriusXM’s TikTok Radio’s Jess Lucero at the time.
The radio host asked if he had changed any diapers, to which Landon responded that he had not and would not be on diaper duty.
“He’s so jealous of the baby it’s sad. ‘It.’ He knew what he was saying,” a fan wrote in the comments section of a viral clip of the interview posted to Instagram at the time.
Other people echoed the comment, leading Landon’s mom, Shanna Moakler, to address his statement.
“He’s just a young guy and I think some people are really comfortable holding newborns and some people, it makes them nervous,” Shanna, 50, told In Touch in March 2024, adding that people took London’s words “too seriously.”
“I’m sure he’ll hold the baby. It’s his little brother,” the model continued to the outlet. “He’ll have a great relationship.”
Shanna, who was married to Travis between 2004 and 2008, also share daughter, 19-year-old Alabama Barker, in addition to Landon. The Blink-182 drummer has also been a bonus dad to step daughter Atiana De La Hoya, 26, whom Shanna shares with ex-fiancé Oscar De La Hoya.
Rocky is Travis’ first child with Kourtney, 45, who previously welcomed eldest kids Mason Disick, 15, Penelope Disick, 12, and Reign Disick, 10, with former partner Scott Disick.
Travis and Kourtney have maintained Rocky’s privacy following his birth and have yet to share a photo of his face on social media. However, the youngest child of the blended family made his debut on The Kardashians season 6 in February.
During the episode, the family had a private dinner at Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles and Kourtney surprised Travis by bringing Rocky.
“Wow, Rock! Look at this. We’re in heaven,” the family matriarch said, revealing the little one’s nickname.
