Glen Powell reacted to romance rumors involving his Anyone But You costar Sydney Sweeney after they both attended his sister’s wedding in Texas.
The Hit Man star, 36, appeared on Today With Jenna & Friends on Wednesday, April 2, confirming that Sydney, 27, was present at Leslie Powell‘s “fun, rowdy” nuptials in Dallas the previous weekend.
Host Jenna Bush Hager couldn’t help but go there, especially in light of multiple outlets reporting on Monday, March 31, that Sydney and fiancé Jonathan Davino split after nearly seven years together as photos from the wedding weekend emerged on social media.
“The wedding caused a little bit of a stir. Did that surprise you?” Jenna, 43, asked Glen.
“You know, timing is everything in this world,” the Twisters star shared with a coy laugh, adding that his sister “and Syd are obviously great friends, and it was a hell of a wedding.”
Glen was a groomsman at the event, saying he was “like the master of ceremonies.” Leslie shared an Instagram Story photo on March 31, showing her brother in a formal navy suit aboard the wedding party’s bus. She also included a snapshot alongside Sydney at the reception, where the Euphoria star looked stunning in a plunging pale gown with a fitted bodice.
“You know, the Powells know how to do it right, and so all the people that love her were there,” Glen revealed about the wedding and reception. “The Powells know how to crank it up!”
Several fans told DeuxMoi that they spotted Sydney and Glen out at several hotspots around Dallas. However, TMZ reported on March 31 that the actress is “very good friends with the Powell family” and has been “very close” with Leslie “for a long time. The outlet also reported that Glen and Sydney did not attend the wedding’s rehearsal dinner as each other’s dates.
Later that day, multiple outlets reported that Sydney called off her late spring wedding to Jonathan, 41, while ending things for good. The duo began dating in 2018, and got engaged in 2022.
“Sydney and Jonathan are officially split,” a source told Us Weekly. People reported that the Immaculate star was “overwhelmed” by their “relationship and her wedding,” adding that “she didn’t feel right about it.”
“She’s exactly where she wants to be,” the insider shared. “Most people would feel overwhelmed by her working schedule this year, but not Syd. She’s all about working right now and very excited about all her projects.”
On the heels of her split, a source exclusively told Life & Style that Sydney and Glen are now “together” on April 2.
“Sydney isn’t prepared to explain her relationship status to anyone,” the insider said. “She did call off the wedding to Jonathan, but she’s not even talking about that. When it comes to her and Glen, that’s a different matter.”
The source pointed out how the duo “definitely had major chemistry” while filming their 2023 Netflix hit Anyone But You, and the pair “remained friends afterward.”
“Sydney is even being coy with her family,” the insider explained. “Only a couple of her closest friends know the truth, but meeting Glen’s family and attending his sister’s wedding tells me they’re together. It only makes sense because they really do have a connection. And of course they make a beautiful couple. Now, everyone is just waiting for the moment she and Glen go public.”
The White Lotus alum hasn’t addressed either her reported split from Jonathan or a possible romance with Glen. However, she was without her engagement ring while attending CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Tuesday, April 1. Sydney smiled up a storm posing on the red carpet, going on to promote her upcoming film, The Housemaid.
