Sydney Sweeney and her fiancé, Jonathan Davino, have called it quits after nearly seven years of dating, according to multiple reports.
“Sydney and Jonathan are officially split,” a source told Us Weekly on Monday, March 31. The insider added that Sydney, 27, is “telling friends she is single.”
Meanwhile, an additional insider told People that Sydney was “overwhelmed” by their “relationship and her wedding,” adding that “she didn’t feel right about it.”
Despite calling off their engagement, the source said that the Euphoria star is happy to be focused on her work. “She’s exactly where she wants to be,” the insider shared. “Most people would feel overwhelmed by her working schedule this year, but not Syd. She’s all about working right now and very excited about all her projects.”
The source added that Sydney is “in the middle of this magical career that she could only dream of a few years ago,” and she “wants to focus” on her career “right now.”
News of Sydney and Jonathan’s breakup comes following split rumors, which began in early March when she deleted a photo of Jonathan, 41, off her social media that captured them kissing at a New Year’s Eve bash. The rumors continued when she went on an Africa getaway with friends, which left many fans wondering why he wasn’t included on the trip.
The speculation increased when Sydney was spotted attending her Anyone But You costar Glen Powell’s sister Leslie Powell’s wedding in Texas. Not only was Jonathan seemingly not in attendance, but Sydney and Glen, 36, previously sparked affair rumors when they filmed the 2023 romantic comedy. However, both Sydney and Glen have insisted that their relationship is strictly platonic.
After photos circulated of Sydney at the wedding, TMZ reported that Sydney has been “very good friends with the Powell family” and “very close” with Leslie “for a long time.” The source also insisted that Glen and Sydney did not attend the wedding’s rehearsal dinner as dates.
Sydney and Jonathan first sparked dating rumors in 2018, and their engagement was confirmed in March 2022. Despite dating for several years, Sydney kept her relationship with the restaurateur mostly out of the spotlight. However, he did join her for the occasional red carpet event or public date night.
In December 2023, Sydney made a rare comment about their romance while talking to Glamour U.K. “I’ve been in a steady relationship for a really long time, which is not normal in this industry and not normal for my age,” she told the outlet at the time. “What I’ve noticed about the idea of celebrity is people really love to build someone up and then tear them down.”
That same month, another insider exclusively spoke to Life & Style about Sydney’s hesitations to get married. “She wants to keep her personal life private. She’s also really not ready to walk down the aisle,” the source said after the White Lotus star publicly admitted to not yet starting the wedding planning process. “Marriage scares her. That’s why she chooses to keep mum about it.”
