Disney’s live action Snow White remake led the box office this weekend, but not in the way they’d hoped. The film scored $43 million domestically, and only slightly more overseas, bringing its total take to $87 million so far. This is the worst box office of a Disney live action remake, including Dumbo, which brought in $45 million on its opening weekend.
The other big studio release of the weekend, The Alto Knights from Warner Bros, did markedly worse, bringing in $3.2 million in wide release, which is horrendous for a major studio release.
Black Bag came in second this weekend with $4.4 million, dropping only 42% from its debut weekend. Captain America: Brave New World followed just behind, bringing in $4.3 million in its sixth weekend. And last weekend’s winner, Novocaine, dropped 57% this weekend, putting in fourth place with $3.7 million.
Meanwhile, Jonathan Majors’ attempted comeback vehicle Magazine Dreams also flopped, bringing in $700,000 from 800 theaters.
