David Harbour has kept silent in the wake of his split from wife Lily Allen and a source exclusively tells Life & Style he’s pouring his efforts into acting while vowing to keep things as civilized as possible with the British pop star.
“David is an extremely ambitious guy, he’s able to keep his eyes on the prize and do the steps, and that is how he’s handling this divorce,” the insider says. “Sure, he could lash out and air out his grievances, but he’s choosing to stay totally silent and stoic in the face of a lot of mud being slung his way.”
The Stranger Things actor, 49, tied the knot with pop star Lily, 39, in September 2020. Their marriage started out quirky, yet passionate — they had an Elvis impersonator officiate in Las Vegas after being inspired by a comment from Lily’s daughters, Ethel, 13, and Marnie, 11, whom she shares with ex-husband Sam Cooper — but soured into a dour affair just a few years later.
Before announcing their divorce in February 2025, a second source told Life & Style the two had “been leading separate lives for months … She’s been so busy with her play in London, and he’s spent a lot of time back in the States. No doubt the long distance has taken a toll.”
Whether it was the distance, or the Raya dating app profile Lily allegedly discovered David was using, that ultimately ended their marriage, the first source notes the Hellboy star is trying his best to take the high road and not respond to the accusations — for the good of his career.
“He knows anything he says will be on the public record forever and he doesn’t want that following him around,” the insider says. “He has huge goals when it comes to his work, he wants to do Broadway, he wants more blockbusters, the last thing he wants is for his name to become synonymous with a messy divorce.”
So far, both parties have been fairly quiet about their split, though a different source told People the British pop star is “devastated and not in a good place,” adding that the impending divorce has “been very hard for her and her girls,” and that “it’s been a bad start to the new year, but Lily is tough. She’s very good at prioritizing herself when she has to.”
As for David, the first source insists “staying tight-lipped is the smart move,” as he plans to expand his Hollywood career, though according to Daily Mail he has already moved on with aspiring model Ellie Fallon, who is 22 years younger than him. She even posted pics of herself smoking David’s favorite brand of cigar to Instagram — a move Daily Mail’s source claimed made Lily “very upset.”
The first insider is also wary of the rushed relationship. “The only problem, of course, is that he’s already moved on with a much younger wanna-be model who’s very eye-catching and only 27 years old.”
“People are chomping at the bit to know more, he’s ignoring all the chatter but he’s clearly not sitting home crying about the split with Lily.”
