– Context: There’s been a spate of “vandalism” of colonial statues in Melbourne (Aus) for the past year, mostly splashes of red paint with the slogan The colony will fall etc. But in June 2024 during the Kings Birthday weekend a bronze statue of King George V was decapitated. The head has been missing since apart from a brief appearance in a video posted on Australia Day/Invasion Day in Jan 2025 with it being BBQ’d.
