Longtime fans of The Voice were shocked to see Adam Levine call on iconic rom-com actress Kate Hudson as a Battle Advisor for Team Adam during season 27. Many fans weren’t aware of the actress’ musical chops and were surprised to find out that Kate could sing.

      Is Kate Hudson a Singer?

The How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days actress always considered herself a “musical soul” and wrote songs her whole life, but hadn’t been able to pursue music as her acting career took off at a young age. In 2020, she decided to pursue music after originally having preconceptions about the venture, like “being too old.”

“For so many years, it was like, ‘You don’t break what’s not broken.’ If you had success in one area of the arts, then you shouldn’t be venturing into another area,” she told Vogue in May 2024. “The only reason we don’t pursue the things we love is because we’re afraid of what people think, which goes against what it is to make art anyway.”

Kate released her debut album, Glorious, on May 17, 2024, which was crafted alongside Linda Perry of the 4 Non Blondes, Johan Carlsson and her fiancé, Danny Fujikawa.

“When it comes to talking about where this album comes from, the years I’ve spent quietly making music and living inside the songs, I’m not sure I’ll be able to stop talking about it,” the Bride Wars actress told People of the album amid its debut. “I’m just thrilled so many smart people want to talk to me about Glorious — and the process of making my first record.”

“Kate Hudson is a household name and has been for years, and now she’s venturing into this new career, which is awesome,” the “Girls Like You” artist said in a confessional interview. “It’s actually kind of annoying because she’s good at everything.”

As for Kate, she was equally excited to be on The Voice as she’d been an avid viewer for years. “I’ve been a fan of the show, watched the show,” she explained. “So much of my life has been in acting and performing, but music was always my love. To be here connecting through music is really special.”

However, she admitted that she wasn’t sure she was ready to take on the full-on responsibilities of a coach as Adam was forced to make the tough decision on which contestant advances. “I’m so glad I don’t have to make that decision,” she told the audience.

The Voice airs on NBC on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET.
