Gilmore Girls and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and her husband, Daniel Palladino, are bringing a new TV show to Amazon Prime. The series Étoile will be a bit of a change from the stories fans saw in Stars Hollow, but it will include some of their favorite faces. Life & Style has the scoop on Étoile’s cast, premiere date and more.
What Is Amazon Prime TV’s ‘Étoile’ About?
Prime Video revealed the first look at Étoile on March 6, 2025, along with a quick summary of what the show is about.
“Set in both New York and Paris, the new, original series follows the dancers and artistic staff of two world-renowned ballet companies as they embark on an ambitious gambit to save their storied institutions: swapping their most talented stars,” the press release from Amazon read.
It continued, “The series is the much-anticipated follow-up to the creators’ beloved comedy The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which over the course of five seasons on Prime Video collected 22 Primetime Emmy Awards, 6 Critics Choice Awards, 3 Golden Globes, and a Peabody, as well as countless fans worldwide. Étoile’s arrival will also coincide with the anniversary of Gilmore Girls, which premiered 25 years ago this year and has only since grown in esteem among audiences, first-time and returning alike.”
Who Has Been Cast in ‘Étoile’?
Gilmore Girls fans are sure to recognize Yanic Truesdale in Étoile. Yanic played the lovable but sarcastic concierge Michel Gerard in the millennial TV staple, and he was listed as a recurring guest in Étoile. The Montreal native was a series regular in all seven seasons. Plus, he reprised his role as the prickly hotel employee when Gilmore Girls got the miniseries treatment from Netflix with A Year in the Life. Michel’s one-liners became immortalized over time with memes and whatnot, including the fan favorites, “I’m doing internal cartwheels,” and “People are being particularly stupid today.”
Yanic is set to play Raphael in Étoile, the right-hand to Genevieve, who is head of the Parisian ballet company.
Along with Yanic, viewers will also see Luke Kirby and Gideon Glick from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Luke played Lenny Bruce in the television show while Gideon played Alfie.
Charlotte Gainsbourg, Lou de Laâge, David Alvarez, Ivan du Pontavice, Taïs Vinolo, David Haig and Simon Callow have also been tapped for roles in the dramedy.
When Does ‘Étoile’ Premiere?
Fans don’t have to wait very long before they can dive into the drama of the ballet world. Prime Video announced that Étoile would premiere on April 24, 2025. The first season will consist of a total of eight episodes, which is standard for many shows these days. It’s also slated to have two seasons, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“Well, guess that plan for early retirement will have to wait. Instead, we’ve decided to embark on an international journey with an unbelievable group of players and the most talented ballet dancers in the world. We will sleep when we’re dead,” Amy and Daniel said in a statement.
Does ‘Étoile’ Have a Trailer Yet?
Prime Video hasn’t released a trailer for Étoile yet, but the streamer is likely to release one in the upcoming weeks since the premiere date is right around the corner.
