Love Is Blind star Lauren O’Brien and fiancé David “Dave” Bettenburg took their intimacy slowly after leaving the pods in season 8. However, fans couldn’t help but notice that the medical device salesman seemed awfully interested in whether the other couples from the show had had sex while vacationing in Honduras.

Lauren, 31, admitted she wasn’t bothered by Dave’s questions, and instead said that she liked how he “spoke his mind,” during an interview with Us Weekly published on Tuesday, February 25. She also said that she even told the other men on the show that she was “never questioning where his head was at.”

In episode 8 of Love Is Blind, Dave, 33, first approached costar Devin Buckley during the couples mixer at the resort everyone was staying at in Honduras. He asked if Devin and his fiancée, Virginia Miller, had had sex yet, and when Devin, 29, said no, he admitted that he and Lauren hadn’t either.

“I just genuinely want to know, like, ‘What’s up? Are you guys having sex yet? What’s it like? Are you cool with that?’” Dave told the producers during a one-on-one interview in the following scene.

He was then seen asking Virginia, 35, Monica Danús and Taylor Haag about their physical relationships, followed by a group conversation on the same topic with Ben Mezzenga, Joey Leveille and Devin.

Several people on social media found it strange that Dave was so focused on everyone else’s sex lives straight out of the pods.

“Does anyone else find it weird that Dave is going around asking the women if they have had sex yet? Like that’s insane to me!” wrote one person on X.

Another added, “Dave specially asking all the women if they’d had sex [with] their partners yet was f–king weird.”

“My favorite moments from my #LoveIsBlind binge watch were in Honduras Dave asking every single person, ‘Did you have sex yet?’ looking like a desperate lame leg dog. Dude wanted a free pass to f–k and not look like a f–kboi to please his sister,” a third person chimed in.

Dave and Lauren’s relationship struggled when they returned to Minneapolis from the pods. However, it wasn’t over the lack of sex he and the educational sales professional were having. Instead, he was much more concerned about the casual relationship Lauren had been in shortly before arriving to film season 8.

When the couple’s phones were returned, Dave learned that his friends knew about Lauren’s situationship and it made him uncomfortable. Lauren spoke about the moment during a recent interview with Vulture.

“I could feel a shift from [Dave] pretty immediately when we got our phones back, but at that point, I did not realize how big of a story this other guy was. I just didn’t understand it,” she told the outlet in an article published on February 22.

She continued, “Me and [the unnamed man] had never once talked about anything beyond a friends-with-benefits situation. We never had serious conversations about that — or much in general. When we got back and I was hearing his version of things, it felt like a 180 compared to any conversation we ever had. I was so confused where it came from.”

Things between Lauren and Dave weren’t looking great in Love Is Blind episodes 7 through 9, but fans will have to wait and see how their story pans out when Netflix airs the next batch on Friday, February 28.
