Earlier this year, Pink and Carey Hart celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary. It’s an impressive feat for any marriage — and even more rare for a celebrity union. “I’ve been with you longer than I haven’t,” she marveled in a January 7 Instagram tribute to her husband. “You’ve been my one constant.”
The retired motocross racer, 49, exclusively tells Life & Style there’s no big secret to making their relationship work, though. “I don’t think it is any magical formula other than listen to the other person, communicate and authentically be there for each other,” Carey says, acknowledging that he and Pink have had their ups and downs, briefly separating in 2003 and 2008. “Life isn’t easy; it’s always about coming back to the table.”
The “Try ”singer, 45, agrees listening to each other is key. But since she and Carey speak “two different languages,” Pink says they rely on couples counseling sessions with longtime life coach Vanessa Inn to help them stay in sync. “Without Vanessa translating for me,” she mused during a 2020 Instagram Live, “we would not be together.”
GROWING TOGETHER
Pink notes that she and Carey — who began dating in 2001 and are parents to daughter Willow, 13, and son Jameson, 8 — didn’t grow up with good examples of marriage. “We both come from families that gave up, and that’s OK,” she told Extra! “But for us, we don’t want to do that.” That means stepping up for each other in myriad ways. Carey is “just the most sensitive, supportive guy in the world,” Pink added to Extra! “Any dream I’ve ever had, [ he’s been like,] ‘Yes, I’m with you.’”
Of course, when those dreams involve performing around the world, the family has to get a little creative. Carey and the kids often accompany Pink on the road, most recently joining her for her Summer Carnival Tour. “My wife finally wrapped up her world tour just before Thanksgiving and we’re just kind of getting back into a normal home routine,” Carey tells Life & Style. “My kids went from staying in penthouses and hotels and home-schooling to getting back to school and getting up at seven o’clock every morning. But they ’re enjoying it. They’re back to being normal kids with their friends and afterschool stuff.”
Pink and Carey’s marriage will no doubt continue to change and grow, but they’re committed. “You have loved me, hated me, and loved me again,” Pink wrote in her anniversary post on Instagram. “I love our story no matter what gets written. It is gritty and sweet.”
