Alex Hafner is starring in one of the newest K-dramas on Netflix, When The Stars Gossip!
The Spanish/American actor is the only non-Korean actor in the series, where he plays Santiago Gonzalez.
When The Stars Gossip is “a romantic comedy about an astronaut and a tourist who meet and fall in love at a space station.”
You may recognize Alex from other shows like The Mallorca Files, Vampire Academy, Cable Girls or Now And Then.

- 1. Acting almost happened much earlier for me. As a child, I was a finalist for The Sixth Sense, Free Willy 3, and Jingle All the Way—but we moved away from LA, and I forgot about acting until college.
- 2. My very first job was in Rod Stewart’s “So Far Away” music video. I’m the kid with the trumpet!
- 3. I have a degree in chemical engineering. It’s really taught me to be thorough when researching anything—or when I need to learn something quickly.
- 4. I once took “learn to ride” way too seriously. I was told to pick up horseback riding for a Westworld audition, so I went all in—bareback riding, jumping obstacles—only to realize they just meant basic Western riding. I didn’t book it, but now I love riding.
- 5. Sailing is my latest obsession. While shooting The Mallorca Files, I learned to sail at the Palma Yacht Club. Now I race on the “Oriole” a classic yacht from 1905, winning regattas across Spain and France.
- 6. When I’m not on set, I’m either playing a set or waiting on a set. Tennis and surfing are my jam, so if I’m not filming, you’ll find me on the court or waiting for waves.
- 7. I once “reset” my language skills. As a kid in Singapore, I spoke German and Spanish—then one day, I just… stopped talking. Six months later, I started speaking
again, but mostly in Japanese. I don’t speak it anymore, but maybe that’s why I pick up languages so quickly. - 8. I love all sorts of animals. The Jungle Book was my favorite movie growing up—maybe because I’ve traveled so much, I’ve always gravitated toward adventure stories.
- 9. My sister and I look nothing alike. She’s a natural redhead, and I’m… not. So whenever we hang out, people always assume we’re a couple. Sometimes its awkward.
- 10. My grandma once locked herself out of her safe, so I became a junior heist mastermind. I spent a whole week studying security fair videos just to help her crack the combo. All for an old bottle of perfume.
