Fans have wondered if Kim Kardashian was making money moves while managing daughter North West‘s rap and social media career. The reality star answered the question during the Thursday, February 20, episode of The Kardashians.

“Guess what? This momager is not taking 10 percent,” Kim, 44, told sister Khloé Kardashian during a phone call. Their mother, Kris Jenner, reportedly takes a 10 percent cut from managing her five daughters’ careers.

The discussion came as Kim had to admit she was worried about the then-10-year-old North having to sing as part of a Hollywood Bowl 30th anniversary celebration for Disney’s The Lion King. In the role of Simba, North would be tasked with nailing the classic hit, “I Just Can’t Wait To Be King.”

The Skims founder said, “I just can’t decide,” on whether she should book the gig for North. Khloé, 40, advised her sibling, “You just want to make sure that you can set her up for success, because the world is just like mean.”

She also pointed out, “I don’t know if she can she sing Broadway,” as Kim responded, “That’s what I’m worried about.”

The concerned mother told viewers in a confessional, “I’m really torn on if I should let her do this or not. North is very comfortable performing, but she’s not a singer. She raps, and she’s been on the stage with her dad. But as a mom, especially putting her child on a platform for a lot of opinions, it’s something to really, really, really think about.”

After consulting with ex-husband Kanye West, Kim relayed to Khloé that he thought the opportunity sounded “cool” for their daughter, while North begged, “Please, Mom, I want to do it.”

The entrepreneur then joked how she didn’t intend on managing her children’s careers so early on, telling Khloé, “I wasn’t planning on being a momager for like another 10 years!”

“I still have like 10 years left of work that I want to do,” Kim stated in a confessional about how she wants to focus on her own career opportunities before taking on those of her kids like Kris, 69, did. “Like I still want to be me, you know? I still have more to do.”

“Every day that she is busy doing something is a day that I can’t work,” Kim explained about how much time was involved to help navigate North’s life in the public eye. “Because she’s not doing anything without me being right there the whole time.”

Kim also worried about North taking heat from people thinking she got the role in the star-studded production thanks to her famous folks.

“I already know what’s coming. That she’s not Whitney Houston, duh. That she got the job because of her parents. North is the moment, they wanna see North West on a TikTok, on a this, on anything, because she’s a personality, a performer,’ Kim explained, along with the warning, “And if anyone wants to hate on a child having the time of their lives, f–k you.”

North ultimately appeared in the production, which ran for two nights starting on May 24, 2024. When video of her performance appeared online, it was met with mixed reviews.

“The true definition of I got money,” one person commented in a response to a TikTok video, while another wrote, “The strings that were pulled.”

However, others rushed to North’s defense. “Everybody is so mean. This is cute! Y’all forget she’s a child,” one user cheered, while another gushed, “Her confidence is otherworldly.”
