Viewers saw Kim Kardashian and her ex-husband Kanye West reunite in episode 3 of The Kardashians season 6. The former couple were both present for their oldest daughter North’s part in The Lion King’s 30th anniversary concert at the Hollywood Bowl.
“[North’s] dad has been involved and he came to rehearsal and he’s like, ‘Can we change the graphics to The Lion King?’” Kim, 44, told the producers during a one-on-one interview on Thursday, February 20. “So, I’m like, ‘Of course, of course,’ and I just look at them and I’m like, ‘It will be a better production,’ you know?”
The Skims founder continued, “Kanye and I want the best for the kids, and so any time we’re here supporting our child, it’s always good vibes.”
Kim and Ye, 47, began dating in 2011 and went on to welcome North, 11, in 2013. They married the following year and had three more children together – Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 5. However, in 2021, the American Horror Story star filed for divorce and she’s been open about her struggles with handling the children as a single mom.
“There are nights I cry myself to sleep,” Kim told host Jay Shetty during an episode of “On Purpose With Jay Shetty” in May 2023. “You know, with all the moods and the personalities and sometimes they’re fighting, and you know, there’s no one there. Like, it’s [just] me to play good police officer and bad cop … Parenting is really f–king hard.”
Many slammed the reality star for complaining.
“She also talks as if she doesn’t have A FULL STAFF OF PEOPLE HELPING HER WTF,” one person wrote in the comments section of the podcast’s episode on YouTube.
Another person on X added, “Kim Kardashian, you aren’t a ‘single mom.’ That term stands for women [who] are raising their children alone without any financial help or resources. You are just single. Good day.”
However, the mom of four addressed the mom-shamers during an October 2023 episode of The Kardashians.
“I think I’m still learning how to be a single parent. And I just did the Jay Shetty podcast where I spoke about parenting, and I mean, I should be used to it now, but everyone had a lot to say,” SKKN founder explained. “Obviously, having nannies and a chef to help cook is beyond helpful. It’s all about family and enjoying these moments. It takes a village to raise kids, but at the end of the day, your kids only want you.”
She also touched on the topic again when she appeared as a guest on Zoe Winkler’s podcast.
“Sometimes in the middle of the night, when they’re all sleeping in your bed kicking you and crying and waking up — it’s not something that I talk about a lot because I feel like there is always a lot of judgment or people always will jump to the, ‘Oh, but you have the resources to have nannies and to have help,’” Kim said during her November 2024 appearance on “What the Winkler?”
She continued, “I just think that no matter what kind of help I have, I’m basically raising four kids by myself. I mean even carpool this morning, I had five kids that I had to take, and everyone wants to leave at, like, different times or wants different stuff. And I feel like I’m at, like, a pit stop of a race car driver.”
