The love flowed freely at L.A.’s San Vicente Bungalows on February 5 when Selena Gomez and Jennifer Aniston donned matching black outfits and held a Galentine’s Day event for their beauty brands. “I’ve known Jen for over a decade now,” Selena, 34, told the group that had gathered. “She’s always been there for me.”
The Morning Show star, 55, added she and Selena “sister-mother each other” during what was the latest display of the pair’s close, cross-generational friendship. “Jen and Selena have a deep respect for each other and are in touch all the time,” an insider exclusively tells Life & Style. “They’ll grab lunch in Beverly Hills or Jen will invite Selena over for dinner or a glass of wine. They love to chill and catch up on gossip and politics — or trade beauty and fashion tips!”
The duo are also in sync when it comes to their charities and bonded right away over their rescue dogs and work ethic. Now that Selena is planning her wedding to fiancé, Benny Blanco, 36, Jen is on hand to cheer her on. “Jen will absolutely be invited to the wedding,” spills the insider. “It’s even quite possible that she’ll be a part of the bridal party.”
Jennifer Aniston Serves as Selena Gomez’s ‘Unofficial’ Mentor and Became a Closer Friend
Selena likely never would’ve guessed she’d end up so tight with the TV icon. Especially, given the pair’s first awkward encounter in 2009, where the Friends-obsessed singer “freaked out.”
“I ran into Jennifer in the bathroom,” Selena told Just Jared JR. “My legs started to shake and I ran. I didn’t know what to do.”
The two later connected again through their shared manager, Aleen Keshishian, according to the Only Murders in the Building star, and Jen “instantly” invited Selena over to her house. The rest is history.
“She’s like that little cherub that I feel like I wanna take care of,” Jen gushed to E! In 2015.
Jen’s done just that, serving as an unofficial mentor. “She was one the of the first women in Hollywood that I had really met,” Selena recalled to Elle in November 2024. “Jennifer always gives me advice on personal stuff or even just, like, dealing with all the craziness. Sometimes this town can get lonely, so it’s nice to have people to look up to.”
