Olivia Wilde and Dane Diliegro sparked romance rumors with a cozy basketball date night and sources tell Life & Style she is “totally smitten” with the handsome actor – as friends believe she’s finally putting her unlucky-in-love past in the rear-view mirror.
An insider says, “This is the first guy she’s really fallen for since Harry [Styles]. For so long she had Harry as the be all, end all, no one could come close and then she met Dane. He’s not just incredibly gorgeous, he’s very funny, and so sweet.”
“They’re taking things slow but it’s going well so far and everyone’s hopeful that this will stick. She’s very private so it’s a big deal that she went to the Lakers’ game with him, it means she’s ready to be more public.”
Photos of the potential new couple showed Olivia, 40, and Dane, 36, watching the game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics on January 23. Olivia was seen looking up adoringly at Dane while he wrapped his arm around her shoulder.
“Her friends are definitely rooting for this, she was left pretty heartbroken by Harry so they want to see her find someone decent that can help her get past that,” spill the insiders.
Don’t Worry Darling costars Harry, 31, and Olivia broke up in November 2022 after dating for almost two years. The former flames were first linked in January 2021 when they were spotted attending the wedding of Harry’s manager, Jeffrey Azoff.
“Even better if [Dane is] a long-term bet, she’s a single mom with a busy schedule, having a partner is much better than the hamster wheel of dating,” added the insider. “But the first step is forgetting about Harry for good and Dane seems to be helping her accomplish that.”
Prior to her romance with the former One Direction crooner, Olivia was engaged to ex-fiancé Jason Sudeikis from 2013 to 2020. The exes share two kids: son Otis, 10, and daughter Daisy, 8.
“The split happened at the beginning of the year,” a tipster told People about their breakup in November 2020. “It’s been amicable, and they’ve transitioned into a great coparenting routine. The children are the priority and the heart of the family’s relationship.”
The split turned sour when the actress was awkwardly served with custody documents during her CinemaCon presentation of Don’t Worry Darling in April 2022.
“To try to sabotage that was really vicious,” Olivia said in a Variety cover story. “But I had a job to do; I’m not easily distracted.”
“But, you know, sadly, it was not something that was entirely surprising to me,” she added. “I mean, there’s a reason I left that relationship.”
A rep for Jason declined to comment on the ordeal, but a source close to the Ted Lasso star, 49, told the publication that it wasn’t intentional, adding, “This was obviously someone’s big mistake and Jason was really upset. Jason didn’t want that.”
“The process server chose where to do it that way and it was messed up,” the insider added at the time. “But no one would have ever known she was served onstage if someone close to her hadn’t revealed what was in the envelope, because people thought it was a script.”
