Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper are still extremely close friends who are there for each other no matter what. A source exclusively tells Life & Style that The Hangover heartthrob will be front and center when she says her “I do’s” with fiancé Michael Polansky later this year.
“Bradley’s one of the top people on Gaga’s list to have at her wedding, aside from family, he’s that important to her. He wasn’t just a mentor who believed in her for their movie, she feels a huge kinship with him,” the insider says of the A Star Is Born costars.
“Bradley will have an open invite to bring a plus one so odds are (his girlfriend) Gigi Hadid will be there with him and Gaga is totally cool with that. She thinks they’re great together and is happy to see Bradley happy. She’s excited to have him there for her big day, which is in the works for this summer,” the source reveals.
Lady Gaga, 38, began dating Michael, 41, in 2019, the same year she took home her first Oscar for Best Original Song — “Shallows” — from A Star Is Born. She and Bradley, 50, became extremely close when he directed and costarred alongside Gaga, when filming on the Oscar-nominated smash started in April 2017.
“Gaga introduced Michael and Bradley very early on in the relationship, and she made it clear it was important to her that they get along. Michael was very understanding,” the insider explains of the dynamic.
“A lot of men would be threatened because Gaga and Bradley are very familiar with each other. Their friendship can come across as flirty, but she insists she sees him as a brother,” the source says of the duo’s relationship. “Fortunately, Bradley has made a big effort to bond with Michael. They aren’t super close but they have a friendship.”
The “Poker Face” singer sparked engagement speculation when she was caught on camera introducing Michael as her “fiancé” during a conversation with French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal at the Paris Olympics on July 28, 2024.
Gaga opened up about Michael’s marriage proposal during an October 1, 2024, appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
“We went on a trip together, and we went rock climbing and we’ve been rock climbing before, which was super fun. We climbed to the top, we looked around, took some photos. And then went back down and we were just walking back to the room,” she recalled. “And he actually — it was very Michael — he asked me if he could ask me. He wanted to know if it was okay to propose before he proposed. And I was like, ‘Yes, it’s so OK.’”
The “Abracadabra” singer said Michael passed on doing a grand proposal atop the rock, explaining, “I think it was smart. It was safe. He had the ring in his backpack, so it was super cute.”
Gaga said Michael didn’t get down on one knee, “but I’m a modern lady. I like what he did.”
With the engagement still fresh, the “Hold My Hand” songstress joked about what kind of wedding she was hoping to have, revealing she was “not exactly sure yet” about the plans.
“We actually talk a lot of about just going to a courthouse just the two of us and just ordering Chinese food,” Gaga said. “But knowing me, also it could become a circus with unicorns.”
