David Tennant went after Donald Trump during his opening monologue at the 2025 BAFTAs on Sunday (February 16) at Royal Festival Hall in London.
The 53-year-old former Doctor Who star served as host for the evening, for the second year in a row.
While speaking in his opening remarks, the actor took aim at the President of the United States, calling him a villain and making jokes about his appearance.

David described nominated film The Brutalist as “a film about incredible architecture. In fact, it’s the boldest architecture in film this year, apart from Donald Trump’s hair in The Apprentice.”
“Donald Trump, he says he hasn’t seen The Apprentice because it’s a 15 [referring to the U.K. film rating]. It’s not on Nickelodeon. Donald Trump … I’m worried. I’ve said his name three times. It’s like ‘Beetlejuice’ — I’ve summoned him. And talking of villains…”
He then went on to talk about Nosferatu and Hugh Grant in The Heretic, as well as comparing Conclave to James Bond.

Also pictured: David walking the carpet at the event alongside his wife Georgia. He also met up with his What We Did On Our Holiday co-star Celia Imrie. The two will reunite on screen in the upcoming movie The Thursday Murder Club.
