After she pursued love with Gerry Turner during the debut season of The Golden Bachelor, Susan Noles revealed that she dated a man who almost appeared on Joan Vassos’ season of The Golden Bachelorette.
“Susan dated a guy for 10 minutes who all he did was talk about himself, and I was the one that said, ‘Offload him,’” Kathy Swarts revealed during the Wednesday, February 12, episode of their “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast. “If a guy isn’t asking you questions about yourself, if you’re not asking him questions — it has to be reciprocal.”
Susan, 67, added that she gave the man “the benefit of the doubt” the first time they spoke on the phone, explaining she wondered if he was “nervous.”
“But by the third phone call, I knew his life story, what he drove,” she recalled. “He was supposed to be on Joan’s season. It was a lot.”
Kathy, 71, jokingly added, “Susan couldn’t even do our podcast because she was very busy writing his biography. She had no time.”
Despite revealing that the unnamed man was supposed to pursue Joan, 62, on The Golden Bachelorette, she did not explain how their brief romance came to an end or why he didn’t end up on the reality show.
Susan and Joan got to know each other when they both competed for Gerry’s heart during the debut season of The Golden Bachelor in 2023. Gerry, 72, ended the season engaged to Theresa Nist, and they wed in January 2024. However, their romance wasn’t meant to be and they announced their split in April of that year.
After Gerry and Theresa, 71, announced their divorce, Susan and Kathy revealed they were on his side. “I’ve gotta support this man a little bit,” Susan said while appearing on SiriusXM’s “The Jess Cagle Show” alongside her podcast cohost in May 2024. “I feel like he got the wrong end of it.”
While Joan’s season of The Golden Bachelorette was airing, she revealed that she was setting some of her suitors up with the women who competed on The Golden Bachelor with her. “I’ve already made a match,” she told Entertainment Tonight in October 2024. “I’ve tried two. One is working.”
At the time, she said that there was “one that’s about to work” and another that was “about to happen.”
Joan wouldn’t reveal which of the men and women she set up, though she said that they were appreciative of her efforts. “You should see the texts I get from these ladies,” she shared.
One Golden Bachelorette alum that fans thought Susan would hit it off with was Jack Lencioni, and she previously spoke about him during a January episode of iHeartRadio’s “I Do, Part 2” podcast.
“God bless Jack,” she said at the time. “The world thought, ‘Susan and Jack.’ Jack likes to cook like I do. We did meet and he’d be a great friend.”
While Susan has confirmed that she’s met Jack, 68, she insisted that their relationship has never been romantic. “We’re both loud and we’re both Italian and we both like to cook and we’re both funny at times,” Susan continued. “Two of the same as me may be not so good.”
