Kayla Nicole is putting her money on ex-boyfriend Travis Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs to take home their third Super Bowl ring on Sunday, February 9.
“I have the Chiefs winning. They’re going to win. It’s going to be a three-peat. Patrick Mahomes is going to get the job done,” Kayla, 33, told Us Weekly during an interview published on Thursday, February 6. “I never, never bet against Patty Mahomes, period.”
The social media influencer added, “I remember specifically when the Patriots were winning year after year, I said the same thing. When the Celtics were doing it. Said the same thing. It just happens. I’m ready to see history be made.”
Her clarification about Travis, 35, and Patrick, 29, winning the big game came after she seemingly implied she was rooting for the Philadelphia Eagles this year.
During an episode of “I Am Athlete Daily” on January 20, Kayla said that she was hoping to see the Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen “pull it off” in a win against the Chiefs during the AFC Championship because she was “bored.” However, Kayla admitted that “as much as [she] would love to see somebody else in the Super Bowl,” she said, “It’s not going to happen.”
Kayla dated Travis on and off from 2017 to 2022. They first connected after the Cleveland, Ohio, native broke up with the winner of the reality TV dating show, Catching Kelce. Travis and Kayla split for the first time in August 2020 after rumors began swirling that he had been unfaithful, but by November of that same year, they had reunited.
After Kayla and Travis broke up for good in 2022, the “New Heights” host began dating Taylor Swift the following year. The sports commentator has spoken openly about her past relationship with Travis, which, in turn, has gotten her some hate from the “Blank Space” singer’s dedicated fanbase.
“I’d be lying if I said that that level of hate and just, like, online chaos, doesn’t impact me. It does, even to this day,” Kayla told “Unapologetically Angel” host Angel Reese during an October 10, 2024, episode. “You can go to my recent post and it will be people debating each other why I am worthless and I’ll never be a talented person and I have no career.”
She continued, “I think there’s something about that level of fame that attracts crazy people, and it’s unfortunate because I’ve never done anything to warrant that kind of backlash.”
Kayla also revealed that she and Travis don’t really communicate anymore, and part of the reason is because of the amount of publicity surrounding his relationship with Taylor, 35.
“I think that we’re both aware of the nature of his new situation [and] there’s just no room for us to communicate or acknowledge each other publicly without it being spun into something crazy,” Kayla explained. “He’s a great guy and that was a good time in my life. So many lessons learned, but that’s with every relationship. I’ve learned a ton from every relationship I’ve been in.”
With her job as a media personality, Kayla and the Grotesquerie star have crossed paths, but other than a “head nod,” their interactions with one another stay fairly limited.
