This year we’re celebrating the big game in true New Orleans style, with seafood boil, a batch of Sazeracs, and a beignet croquembouche (yes, that now exists, thanks to Nea in our Test Kitchen). And it might get messy. So whether you’re hosting your own Super Boil or keeping it low-key, here’s how to tackle game-day messes like a true champion.

A seafood boil, along with an array of apps and snacks, is always a great way to feed a crowd, but let’s be honest, it’s not the neatest of meals.
The best approach? Swift and strategic sweeping. A handy broom and dustpan set will be your MVP, especially one that gets into corners and under tables. We’re biased, but we love this multipurpose silicone broom because it sweeps up most messes with ease—and you can put it in the dishwasher along with your cups and plates after the party.

A knocked-over drink can feel like a fumble, but a quick jump can save the day (and your carpets). If someone does happen to spill, always blot (don’t rub!) with a super-asorbent towel to lift the liquid before it sets. If your cocktail has sugar or citrus in it, wipe the area with a mix of warm water and dish soap to prevent lasting stickiness. For upholstered pieces, we’ve found that saline solution and club soda works wonders. For clothing stains, an immediate pinch of salt might just do the trick.

New Orleans-inspired treats come with the theme, but unfortunately so does a sugar dusting on your couch, clothes, and floor. For furniture and fabric, a lint roller can lift most of the powder. A quick vacuum pass can get the rest, and for sticky spots (because someone definitely spilled a drink on top of the sugar), a quick swipe with damp microfiber cloth should work.
