WNBA star Caitlin Clark opened up about her experience sharing a private suite with Taylor Swift while they watched the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Houston Texans in Arrowhead Stadium on January 18.
“I’m a huge Chiefs fan and Taylor is a huge Chiefs fan,” Caitlin, 23, said during the Monday, January 27, episode of the “Swarmcast” podcast. “Taylor is very sweet and very kind and it’s a good reminder that people in our position are very normal. We enjoy watching sports and hanging out with our friends. It puts a great perspective of life.”
The University of Iowa alumna later shared that she got giddy when she realized she and the Grammy-winning artist, 35, have the same love for the Chiefs.
“It’s just cute to see how excited she is for the Chiefs and getting to share that I was like. ‘Oh my god she loves this, she loves the Chiefs as much as me, this is incredible,” Caitlin continued of Taylor, who is dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
If Caitlin’s oncamera smiles during the game weren’t an indication that she enjoyed her company with Taylor, the professional athlete shared just how “perfect” the day was.
“We had so much fun and honestly it was the perfect game. The Chiefs won, it was close at halftime, Travis scores a huge touchdown for the Chiefs, we ended up winning,” the Indiana Fever guard continued. “There was nothing crazy that happened and we felt confident as it got to the end. It ended up being a perfect game.”
While Caitlin and Taylor vibed during game day, some people within the sports world weren’t fans of the unexpected duo.
“WAIT, CAITLIN CLARK IS UP IN THE ARROWHEAD BOX WITH TAYLOR SWIFT??? CAITLIN, YOU DON’T NEED TO BE SEEN WITH HER,” sports commentator Skip Bayless wrote via X during the game. “YOU’RE BIGGER THAN SHE IS. JUST STAY ON YOUR OWN PATH.”
Skip, 73, later divulged his feelings in a video shared to X and asked, “Can somebody tell me what possessed Caitlin Clark to associate with Taylor Swift?”
“Caitlin, you’re better than that. You’re bigger than she is. Stay on your own path. Blaze your own trail,” he continued. “You don’t need Taylor Swift and the Swifties. You’ve got the Clarkies, billions of them. Come on, I lost a little respect for you, Caitlin.”
On the other hand, former WWE wrestler Baron Corbin shared his own experience watching a Chiefs home game in the same private suite as Taylor. Much like Caitlin, Baron, 40, raved over his thrilling encounter with the “Lover” artist after Travis, 35, invited him to his suite for a game during the 2024-2025 NFL season.
“As they say it, she was [walking] into the room,” Baron reflected during the January 23 episode of the “Insight With Chris Van Vliet” podcast. “My brother’s freaking a little bit and she walks right up to everybody, gives them a hug [and] gave us a hug like it was like you were instantly family.”
