Matty Healy is releasing new music, and he reacted to a rumor that one of his new songs is about ex Taylor Swift.

The 1975 frontman, 35, took to Reddit on Sunday, January 19, to address speculation that an upcoming song titled “God Has Entered My Body” was inspired by his relationship with Taylor, 35. The rumors began when The Sun reported on January 18 that the track would dive into their brief fling.

“This can’t be real,” a fan captioned a screenshot of the article alongside two crying emojis. While using his verified account, Matty chimed in, “Huge if true.”

According to The Sun’s report, the 1975 is currently working on their sixth studio album and will feature a song about Matty and Taylor’s romance. “Everyone at the studio thought this was about Matty’s fling with Taylor and their fleeting romance,” a source told the outlet. “Matty will never publicly comment on his relationships, but he lets his deepest feelings out in his songs and gets everything off his chest.”

Additionally, the outlet shared some of the song’s reported lyrics. “Keep your head up, princess, your tiara is falling,” Matty sings in the song, according to The Sun.

Taylor and Matty were first romantically linked in 2014. Nine years later, they rekindled their romance in May 2023 shortly after her split from ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn. The pair went on to have a whirlwind romance before they called it quits in June 2023.

Despite only dating for about one month, many fans believe that Matty inspired several of the tracks on Taylor’s April 2024 album, The Tortured Poets Department.

Just days after the album was released, Matty revealed he hadn’t listened to TTPD. “I haven’t really listened to that much of it but I’m sure it’s good,” he told TMZ on April 24, 2024.

One song that many Swifties believe is about Matty is “But Daddy I Love Him.” In the track, Taylor defends a romance that was met with public scrutiny.

Meanwhile, Matty seemingly hinted that the song “Guilty as Sin?” was about him by sharing a cryptic Instagram Stories post in November 2024. At the time, the “Chocolate” singer uploaded a photo of Annie Lennox‘s cover of The Blue Nile song “Downtown Lights,” which he captioned, “If you don’t know this cover, you are welcome.”

Several fans assumed that the post was alluding to the song, as Taylor sings in the track, “Drowning in the Blue Nile / He sent me ‘Downtown Lights’ / I hadn’t heard it in a while.”

While neither Taylor nor Matty have shared much information about their romance, an insider exclusively told Life & Style that their relationship was “so much more intense than anyone realized.”

“After all she put up with for him, Matty cruelly ghosted her and left her devastated when she should have been basking in the success of the Eras Tour,” the source added about their split in an article published in May 2024. “All the drama over their split really tarnished last summer for her.”
