Not only did Big Brother alum Tyler Crispen shock fans when he announced he secretly welcomed baby No. 1, but the surprises continued when he revealed he’s engaged to a mystery woman.
“The best secret of all time,” Tyler, 29, wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, January 14, alongside photos of his newborn daughter, Carter Rae Crispen.
After explaining Carter was born on Sunday, January 12, Tyler continued, “The most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. Your mama and I love you more than anything in this world.”
While Tyler did not reveal the identity of Carter’s mother, he did share that they are engaged. “My [fiancée] (oh yeah, double surprise) wanna thank all of our close friends & fam for helping us keep this little secret and showering her and us with all the love,” he continued. “I am the luckiest guy on the planet.”
“PS. Have you ever seen a harder launch?” he concluded in the caption.
Shortly after Tyler made the announcement, several Big Brother stars took to the comments section to congratulate him. “Congrats brotha! Best thing in the world!” season 16’s Derrick Levasseur commented, and season 19’s Josh Martinez added, “Congrats my boy so happy for you.”
“Congrats brother! You will be an amazing dad,” season 10 and 22’s Memphis Garrett wrote, and season 8’s Dani Briones said, “Tyler! Congratulations. Girls are the besssstt. So happy for you three!!”
Tyler is best known for competing on season 20 of Big Brother, where he finished as the season’s runner-up behind winner Kaycee Clark.
Before his current romance, Tyler was engaged to Big Brother costar Angela Rummans. The began a showmance while filing their season in 2018, and they eventually bought a home together in South Carolina. Tyler proposed to Angela, 32, in 2021, though their love story wasn’t meant to be and they split in December 2022.
Following their split, Tyler insisted that he and Angela would always remain friends.
“I am not a big believer in burning bridges because she was such a big part of my life and I don’t want to have to look back on those memories and have a sour taste in my mouth,” he told Us Weekly in September 2023. “She’ll always have a special place with me, and I think she knows that. I think maintaining a friendship with his exes is OK, everybody. It can work out.”
While Angela and Tyler’s romance was in the spotlight, the father of one has now chosen to keep his current relationship more private.
“It’s just something we spoke about early on. If anything it just strengthens the connection because it can be hard for someone that is in the public eye to be with someone that’s not,” he said during an August 2024 appearance on “The Exclusive With Sharon Tharp.”
Tyler continued, “And I remember how difficult it was for me to be thrust into that at first. It’s crazy to go from hearing opinions about yourself from your friends and family to going on the show, you come out, and you hear opinions being thrown at you 24/7 on a large scale. It’s not easy to deal with.”
