Travis Kelce has definite opinions on what seasons are the best and worst to hold a wedding amid rumors he and girlfriend Taylor Swift are getting engaged.
The Kansas City Chiefs star, 35, shared his take during the Wednesday, January 8, episode of his “New Heights” podcast when a listener posed the question about getting married in the fall, as that’s what his fiancée wanted to wed but the man complained it would interfere with his watching the NFL season.
“I actually don’t know people who’ve gotten married in the fall, because all the weddings I’ve been to and all my friends always do it in the summer,” Travis shared.
“I’ve seen weddings in f–king February. I’ve seen weddings everywhere but the fall,” he continued. “So I’m not sure if the fall was a good wedding season.”
The Ohio native had a suggestion for the fan if his fiancée was dead set on a fall wedding.
“You gotta be willing to find a weekend where the team isn’t playing anybody good maybe,” Travis explained.
“Also, if you really do have a problem with that, maybe it’s in her best interest to not have it in the fall so that she knows you’re invested in the anniversary every time it comes around. I think you guys should duke that out,” he added.
Travis’ brother and cohost Jason Kelce disagreed.
“Brother, I’m gonna tell you right now. Do the fall and the wedding and avoid this frivolous fight that means absolutely f–king nothing,” the retired Philadelphia Eagles star, 37, urged the caller.
Jason explained, “You can watch the football game another [time], like, record it and watch it again. Like, I don’t know what you want me to say. There’s certain things that are more important than football, and if the wedding isn’t more important than football, we got some bigger issues here.”
Travis stood firm as he kept in mind other guys who wouldn’t want to choose between a going to a wedding and missing out on any of the NFL season.
“Don’t make my friends have to not go. Everybody’s got season tickets. Alright? Don’t make my friends have to choose whether or not they have to sell their tickets that week,” he countered.
Jason married wife Kylie Kelce in April 2018, which fell well outside of football season. Yet he was still sympathetic to the caller’s fiancée wanting a fall wedding.
“There’s a lot more important things than football, and weddings happen to be one of them. And not arguing with your wife is high up there with more important than football. So I would just do the wedding whenever she wants to, because that’s kinda your job now,” he advised.
A source told Life & Style in July 2024 that Travis and Taylor, 35, were mapping out their future and looking at a possible wedding in the spring or summer of 2025.
“They’re very coy on the subject and quick to deny any specifics which is fair enough since they haven’t come up with any yet, but they love to talk in general terms. It’s something they’ve been doing for a while and the secret is now leaking out,” a source says about the pair’s wedding plans.
“People in the know are saying the common bet is that they’ll be engaged within six months. They want it to be a non-pressured, spontaneous moment when it does happen. They already consider themselves unofficially engaged, they’re both clear they’ve found their person and they love to talk about the future, kids when the time is right and the wedding when it happens,” the insider added.
